What Video Translator does

No timelines and no typing captions. Pick a video, translate it and share it.

AI transcription and translation

Speech is recognized and translated automatically. You do not type the subtitles.

Subtitles burned in

The text is part of the video, so it shows wherever you play or share it. There is no separate subtitle file.

With Premium, pick the color and size with a live preview before you translate.

Library and sharing

In the app, your video stays on your device, with no account and no ads. On the web, it is deleted automatically after your plan's retention period.

When you need subtitles in another language

Whenever the language in the video is not the one your viewers speak.

Reach a wider audience

Creators and small businesses can add subtitles in another language before sharing a video with new viewers.

Understand any video

Lectures, tutorials and talks in a language you do not speak are easier to follow with subtitles in yours.

Share with family and friends

Send travel clips and family videos to people who speak a different language, with subtitles they can read.

Training and product demos

Add subtitles to short training videos, demos and recorded updates for teams and customers abroad.

Your video stays private

In the iPhone and iPad app, the video file is never uploaded. To create subtitles, only the audio track is sent over an encrypted connection to be transcribed and translated, and it is deleted automatically afterward. The subtitles are added to your video on your device, with no account and no ads. Read the app's Privacy Policy.

In the web app, your video is uploaded over an encrypted connection to private storage, processed, and deleted automatically after your plan's retention period (7 days on Free). Read the web app's Privacy Policy.

Common questions

How do I add subtitles to a video on my iPhone?

Open Video Translator, choose a video from your library, pick the language spoken in the video and the language you want for the subtitles, then tap Translate Now. The app transcribes and translates the audio and burns the subtitles into your video. When it finishes, the video is saved in your library.

Does Video Translator translate the voice or only add subtitles?

It adds translated subtitles. The original voice stays as it is, and the translation appears as text burned into the video. It does not dub or change the audio.

Which languages are supported?

22 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Turkish, Russian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Greek, Hebrew and Ukrainian. You choose both the language spoken in the video and the language of the subtitles.

Is Video Translator free?

The app is free to download and includes one free video translation for videos up to 5 minutes long. Premium is an optional subscription managed through your Apple ID. It adds more translations every day, longer videos, subtitle styling and sharing of translated videos.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

Not in the iPhone and iPad app: your video file never leaves your device. Only the audio track is sent over an encrypted connection so it can be transcribed and translated, and it is deleted automatically once the subtitles have been generated. The subtitles are added to the video on your device. In the web app, the video is uploaded over an encrypted connection to private storage so it can be processed, and it is deleted automatically after your plan's retention period (7 days on Free), or soon after you delete it yourself.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes. Speech recognition and translation happen online, so you need a connection while a video is being translated. Once it is done, you can watch your translated videos in your library at any time.

Can I change how the subtitles look?

With Premium you can choose the subtitle color, from six presets or your own custom color, and pick a small, medium or large size, with a live preview before you translate. Free translations use the standard white style.

How accurate are the subtitles?

AI speech recognition works best with clear speech. Background noise, music, strong accents or several people talking at once can affect the result, so watch the finished video before you share it.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. Video Translator runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18.0 or later.
